Afghanistan: giant Buddhas of Bamiyan hope feed

Ex-libris of this region in the Centre of the country, the giant statues of Buddhas-destroyed by the Taliban in 2001 â€" are being rebuilt with the support of a team which includes German archaeologists and counts with the support of UNESCO.

There is, however, some controversy regarding this project. To the extent that some argue that the money invested in the reconstruction of the Buddhas could be more useful if applied in the improvement of living conditions of the population in the province of Bamiyan. There is, therefore, who remains skeptical in view of the future of the region.

In the case of Khawary Tabs: "we are going through a very complicated situation. All investments are coming out of Afghanistan. The younger generation will also leave. The people will rise up again and will be clashes. "

The bright light, however, can be close to returning to Bamiyan. Because included in a list the votes, on the race for the post of Vice President, Habiba Sarabi, the first woman to assume the post of regional Governor exactly in the province of Bamiyan, in 2005, where he managed significant achievements for the affirmation of women. If it comes to the Government, Sarabi will certainly have a look interested also on the progress of the region where ruled.

One of the responsibilities expected in the country's new leader will be the rekindling of the light of tourism, erased the region 13 years ago by the Taliban, which considered the stone Buddhas as idols enemies of Islam.

With the Buddhas back, darkness brought by the Taliban to the region is just as a landmark in the past and tourism may be, again, the bright future of Bamiyan. So please also the new President of Afghanistan.
