Earthquake survivors protest in northern Chile

Several dozen people demonstrated, during the night this Friday, in the city of Iquique in northern Chile, in protest at the lack of Government help, after the earthquake last Tuesday.

Authorities demanding blankets, clothes, and replenishing water services and elect, they set fire to barricades and stopped traffic.

Iquique, capital of the region of Tarapcá, about two thousand kilometers from Santiago, was one of the hardest hit by Tuesday's earthquake, which also caused major damage in the regions of Antofagasta, Arica and Parinacota.

However, the Chilean President, Michelle Bachelet, gave orders to the Ministers of the Interior, Rodrigo Peñailillo, and defence, Jaime Birgos, for moving the Iquique and speed up the second phase of the plan.

Since the beginning of the week, Chile was hit with a series of Earth tremors. The strongest happened last Tuesday â€" the northern region suffered an earthquake of 8.2 on the Richter scale, which caused six deaths, multiple injuries and property damage.
