Israel applies economic sanctions on the Palestinian Authority

Unidentified Israeli source said that these sanctions resulting from the deduction of tax benefits on regular tax payments to the Palestinians and to limit Palestinian Government access to bank accounts held in Israel.

The Israeli sanctions are associated, directly or indirectly, to the fact that the Palestinian Authority has requested membership to about 15 international conventions and treaties. But there are also following the emergency meeting in Cairo between the President of the Palestinian Authority with diplomatic officials from the Arab League.

At this meeting, Abbas will have achieved political support, but also a monthly financial support on the order of 100 million dollars (72 million euros), which will not have pleased Israel, contributing to the chill of the peace talks between the two sides under American mediation and should remain until at least the end of this month.
