Cannes: "Winter Sleep" WINS Palme d'Or

At the ceremony of delivery of the prize, the Director gave the Palme d'Or to young compatriots who lost their lives during anti-Government demonstrations in 2013.

"Last year the young people of Turkey have taught us many things and some of them lost their lives during the demonstrations. Somehow sacrificed their lives for our future, which is why I thought you deserved this award, "said Ceylan.

Also worthy of highlight the Grand Prize of the jury assigned to "Le meraviglie" by Alice Rohrwacher.

Julianne Moore received the award for best actress, for her performance in "Maps to the stars" and Timothy Spall with acting in "Mr. Turner" won the prize for best actor.

"It's a balanced Awards reward movies of very different styles and culminates with the Palme d'Or for a three-hour film very strong. With the backdrop of Anatolia, "Winter Sleep" is an intimate and political film that speaks of the soul as the Turkey of today, "said Frédéric, Euronews, Ponsard in Cannes.
