Separatists hold referendum in Eastern Ukraine

Whatever happens, the referendum on autonomy in Eastern Ukraine scheduled for next Sunday will be held.

In full countdown, pró-russos separatists respond this way to appeal to Vladimir Putin, who had suggested the postponement of the referendum until after the presidential elections of Ukraine to "promote dialogue."

"Given the events recorded, to military actions that are happening in the cities of the region, in view of the genocide that took place in Odessa, the willingness to carry out the referendum â€" rather than postpone it for any reason â€" do not stop growing," said at a press conference Denis Pushilin, leader of the self-proclaimed Republic of Donetsk.

With or without convergence of opinions, the separatists do not cease to refer to "the greatest respect for President Putin."

The Russian head of State also announced, in the wake of a meeting with the President-in-Office of the Organization for security and cooperation in Europe, the withdrawal of Russian troops to the border with Ukraine.

Already Thursday, Government forces loyal to Kiev retook control of the city of Mariupol, on the eastern region of Donetsk.
