Ukraine: ultimatum by the Army after unprecedented attack against airport

Ukrainian forces launch ultimatum, after more than fifty pró-russos separatists were killed during unprecedented assault to regain control of the airport in Donetsk.

The insurgents, which allowed the access of journalists to a morgue of the rebel city, say there are around a hundred deaths, including civilians.

The Ukrainian Army attack using planes and combat helicopters, marks a shift in the strategy of Kiev.

According to a spokesman for the Army, the insurgents were urged to depose the weapons, if they don't want to die. The Russia Today television channel said that the armed forces have surrounded all accesses to Donetsk. On the side of the rebels, the Ansa agency reported that self-proclaimed authority of the city ordered the evacuation of civilians.

At the same time, the Organization for security and cooperation in Europe announced have lost contact with one of the teams of international observers stationed on the outskirts of the city.

While construction of the fighting at the airport, a fire devastated the Hockey Stadium of Donetsk, belonging to a former Minister of the deposed regime of President Viktor Yanukovych.
