Eleven killed in sudden floods in Bulgaria

The region was already an abnormal rainfall in recent weeks, but on Thursday a huge waterspout on a hill in the suburbs of the city, caused several landslides.

Among the fatalities are at least two children.

A resident of Varna explains that has "61 years" and never seen a disaster of this dimension "in this region. "It's incredible and inexplicable, when you see all the damage caused by the flood".

Precipitation reached overnight, the 117 litres per square meter.

The Bulgarian Parliament to observe a minute's silence today and was decreed for Monday a day of national mourning in memory of the victims.
