Libya: Continues the political maelstrom

In may Maitiq was elected to replace Abdullah al Thinni, who played the position temporarily. The Electoral Act took place in a huge mess by some MPs and senior officials argued the lack of quorum to annul the vote.

Since then, al Thinni refuses to resign and remains in front of the Executive.

Maitiq continued ahead and progressed to the formation of a new Government, leaving the question of which of the two will be legitimate.

However the seat of Government was the target of an attack that caused no more than material damage.

Suspicions point to groups loyal to anti-islamita Khalifa Haftar, a former general of Muammar Gaddafi.
