New York City Marathon receives Prince of Asturias Award

This time, the President of the Association of Spanish sporting press, Julián Round Perez, disclosed that the choice fell on the New York City Marathon, explaining that "since its birth in 1970, with only 127 runners, the event became a proof that symbolizes the bridge between amateur and professional sport, with more than 50 thousand participants in the latest edition."

It is the largest event of its kind in the world. The number of aspirants is so high that a large part of the corridors is selected by lottery. The race became even more symbolic after the 11 September, incarnating the spirit of interhelp New Yorker.
