Turkey: protests and police repression on the anniversary of the demonstration in Gezi Park

The authorities cut off streets and paralysed public transport to prevent the access of protesters to Gezi Park on Taksim Square where dissidents intended by flowers and make a statement.

A Turkish Human Rights Association said at least 83 people have been detained, 14 were injured.

Ankara, the capital, was also the scene of the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayiip Erdogan.

Earlier, Recep Tayiip Erdogan had warned that if anyone tried to go to Taksim, security forces were under strict orders to do the necessary, from A to Z ".

Last year, protests in Taksim Gezi Park, led a wave of opposition to the Government which continued for several months in the country and that resulted in death 19 people and injuries to thousands of other following clashes with the forces of law and order.
