Ukraine: Army prepares for the "ultimate battle" in the East of the country

The Ukrainian army tries to put an end to the rebellion of the separatist regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, after having taken over several towns in the East of the country and at a time when Kiev admits the possibility to resume the cease-fire.

The military announced having retaken control of the city of Siverski, 100 km north of Donetsk, as well as a new border post in the region of Luhansk.

At least four soldiers were killed and 12 were wounded during the fighting tonight.

A Ukrainian military States ready to "fight to the end, with my companions, in order to put an end to this situation as soon as possible so that my nephews can walk again in freedom in this region of the country."

Since tonight that the rebels took positions around the Donetsk airport controlled by the army, where there have been several shootings.

Pró-russos militants reject any understanding with Kiev, while some sources claim that Moscow would continue to supply weapons to the rebels.

"We're defending our homeland. We don't want Westerners come here to impose their law. We will not allow this to happen. We are first of all normal people, miners, cutters, etc., "says a separatist fighter.

The Ukrainian President, Petro Poroshenko, admitted yesterday, during a telephone conversation with the German Chancellor, the possibility of resuming the "ceasefire", but only after obtaining control of all border areas with Russia and the release of all the hostages.
