Ingrid Bettancourt is a political activist who was kidnapped in 2002 and held hostage in the Colombian jungle during 6 years, by the FARC (revolutionary armed forces of Colombia). The husband continued the presidential campaign in which Ingrid was involved while the franco-Colombian were kidnapped. The French Government tried several rescue missions before she was released, along with 14 other hostages in July 2008.
