Germany trains and provides arms to the Kurds fighting the group "Islamic State"

The German army is training Kurdish soldiers within the framework of the international coalition, led by the United States, to combat the extremist group "Islamic State".

The training of Kurdish soldiers takes place in Germany and in Iraqi Kurdistan. Around Erbil, the peshmerga receive the Germans training in handling of type G3 automatic rifles. The Germany sent about 16 thousand of these units, but also millions of ammunition, machine guns, rocket launcher and anti-tank missiles.

Berlin decided at the end of August, providing weapons and training to the peshmerga. The plan envisages the training of about 10 thousand Kurdish fighters. The German support in arms and ammunition rounds a value in the order of 70 million euros. All to combat the radicals who declared a Caliphate in Mesopotamia.
