Gaza in ruins threatened by torrential rain

Two days of torrential rains have flooded large areas of the Palestinian city, severely destroyed by Israeli bombing in August.

The UN refugee agency declared the emergency in the locality, as a preventive measure, when heavy rain showers threaten drinking water reserves and at a time when no casualties to report.

Three months after the cease-fire, about 30% of the houses in the city are destroyed and more than 100.000 people remain displaced.
