Triple bombing in Kano, in Northern Nigeria

More than 100 people died and 270 were injured in a triple bombing against the great mosque of Kano in Northern Nigeria.

Three bombs went off in the aisle of the great mosque shortly after the beginning of the traditional Friday prayer.

The attack would have been committed by two suicide bombers and gunmen, according to police.

The mosque is located next to the Palace of the emir of Kano, Mohammed Sanusi II, the second most important Muslim leader of Nigeria.

It was in this mosque which, last week, the emir called the population in the North of the country to take up arms against the Islamists of Boko Haram, criticising the inability of the Nigerian Army to defend civilians from insurgents.
