Between divisions, Iraq celebrates Armed forces

The Iraq celebrates the Day of the armed forces, at a time when the army remains deeply divided between Sunnis and Shiites.

The festivity was born still in the time of Saddam Hussein. The large military parades celebrating the war with Iran in the years 80, gave way to a more discreet ceremony.

"We are at the beginning and full of hope to achieve our goals thanks to the effort. We're going to have to rationalize our resources, both financial and materials. Some of them are known, others are covered by military secret, "said Defense Minister Khaled Al-Obeidi.

In addition to the internal divisions, the main challenge that the Iraqi army faces today is the struggle against the radical group calling itself Islamic State. The taking of various parts of the country on the part of the extremists made the army losing a lot of war material, recovered by the enemy.
