French police stop young defendants to desecrate Jewish cemetery

The French police arrested five minors charged with desecration of Jewish cemetery.

The authorities made the arrests Monday after the discovery of the damage on Sunday.

The incident occurred in a Jewish cemetery situated in the East of the country, near the border with Germany.

"Anti-Semitic Acts are not tolerated in our country. None of this is tolerated and will not go unanswered, "said the French President, François Hollande.

"It's better to kill stones than people but killing stones is also a way to alienate the living saying that in fact the place no longer exists," said Jacques Wolff, a representative of the Jewish community of Sarre-Union.

The suspects, five in total, are aged between 15 and 17 years and not have a criminal record.

The five young men were detained by police after one of the young men have handed over voluntarily.

In total 250 tombs were desecrated.
