Turkish writer Yasar Kemal died

Yasar Kemal was 92 years and was of Kurdish origin.

The author of "Memed, My Hawk", translated into more than 40 languages, was the first writer Turkish candidate for a Nobel Prize for literature.

Yasar Kemal died Saturday in a hospital in Istanbul, where he was hospitalized since January, as a result of complications caused by a pulmonary infection and a heart arrhythmia.
