Christians celebrate Easter in Iraq and Syria

Most sought refuge here after fleeing from cities like Mosul, attacked by the Group Islamic State.

In Damascus, capital of Syria, Christians have the Easter Vigil in the Church of Zaytoun, while the fighting persist in the country.

During the ceremony the Patriarch of Antioch, Gregorios III Laham, appealed to the end of the war and prayed for peace in the region.

About ten percent of the population is made up of Christian Syria.
