India: heat wave has sparked more than 1400 dead

The States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, in the South of the country, are the areas most affected by the high temperatures, when the mercury from thermometers reaches 46 degrees centigrade.

The authorities canceled vacations and time off from medical personnel, while some hospitals are overcrowded in the face of thousands of cases of heatstroke and acute dehydration.

"There's no electricity since the morning and there's nobody to help us. There are two patients per bed and that doesn't seem to worry anyone, "says a man in a hospital in Visakhapatnam, the" capital "of the State of Andhra Pradesh.
