USA: Anthrax sent accidentally to active private lab

A Defense Department laboratory in Utah dispatched "inadvertently" sample of the deadly Bacillus asset for a commercial laboratory in the State of Maryland that was discovered in May 22.

Samples sent to laboratories in nine other States are now being examined by sanitary authorities.

According to the Defense Department, the laboratory of Dugway Proving Grounds regularly dispatches anthrax samples inactivated by radiation, for scientific research.
