USA: silence of police ignites new protests in Baltimore

Thousands of people demonstrated peacefully in the city, for the third consecutive night since violent clashes on Monday.

A protest that degenerated into violence, in Philadelphia, where a March of a thousand people was marked by sporadic incidents with the police.

In Baltimore, police decided to extend the curfew until the weekend, "many residents ask us if it's not time to lift the curfew, but despite two days of calm we still have the weekend ahead. I ask you to be patient, "said the Police Commissioner of Baltimore, Anthony Batts.

The protests occur days after Freddy Gray succumb to spinal injuries and at a time when the Justice Department continues to investigate the responsibility of six police officers in the death of the young man of 25 years.

The judges received yesterday the first police report about the incident. The document, whose conclusions were not revealed in public, includes new data on the transport of Gray to the police station after the arrest for possession of melee weapon.

According to some sources, cited by the American press, the car carrying the young African-American man would have made four stops before reaching the station.
