China: Festival of dog meat generates controversy II

In China, eating a hot dog is a phrase that can be taken to the letter, especially in Yulin, in the South of the country, where every year is organized the controversial festival of dog meat. Just for this festival, every year are killed about 10,000 dogs, mostly stolen or picked up on the streets.

A group of people who were demonstrating against the festival was scattered by unknown: "these dogs and cats are stolen, cannot commit this crime against animals and food safety. The authorities, instead of doing what they should, they take our tracks, "complains a protester.

Despite the apparent cruelty involving this celebration, there are those who defend the festival: "there is no logic in banning. You eat steaks. If a law to prohibit eating steaks, one would think right? "asks a seller of dogs.

Activists mobilize. A reformed teacher made a trip of more than 1000 kilometres and spent around 1000 euros to save 100 dogs (pictured below).

Anonymous and celebrities from all over the world are showing, in social networks, indignation against this party, through the "hashtag" #StopYulin2015.

Whether you're an atheist or believer, vegan or hunter, you must agree that torturing a dog then skinning it alive is wrong. #StopYuLin2015
