Italy: regional elections are test for Renzi

The Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi has an important test this Sunday, with the partial regional elections.

The votes are going to seven of the twenty Italian administrative regions, of which the Democratic Party, in Government, controls five.

After the one year overdue European, this is another test for Renzi, which seeks legitimacy for reform here what you want to do, disputed by the opposition, by the unions and the left of the party itself.

The strength in the Government must keep without problems the region of Tuscany, where Renzi chaired the Florence Chamber, such as Puglia, Marche and Umbria. The Northern League will probably keep the Veneto. In Liguria, Renzi faces a left-wing dissent. Campania is the biggest challenge: Vincenzo di Luca, the candidate with that Renzi wants to steal the region on the right, is suspected of corruption.
