Yemen: UN calls for "dialogue" between conflicting parties to guarantee "lasting peace"

Visiting the town of Amran, Northwest of the capital of Yemen, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator also appealed for dialogue between the huthis rebels and forces loyal to the President of the country, in order to ensure the "lasting peace."

The journey of three days served to Stephen O'Brien testify on the ground the real dimension of the conflict: "we can understand, the devastation of the Governor's offices and municipal buildings that [here], what kind of effect is that the conflict is having on infrastructure and on the people of this community in particular."

The President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Peter Maurer, warned that the country is on the brink of "catastrophe"
