Long live the Queen: Elizabeth II, the longest reign of British history

The previous record belonged to Queen Victoria, great-great-grandmother of Elizabeth II, who died on January 22, 1901.

At 4:30 pm, hour from Lisbon, this Wednesday, Elizabeth II is officially the longest monarch ruled the United Kingdom destinations.

To celebrate the occasion the Kensington Palace opens an exhibition on these two women who, each in their own way, the way of the country:

"I think the similarities between these two women, and their reigns, are based on the fact that they were both incredible forces and sources of stability in times of intense and unprecedented changes," says Deirdre Murphy, curator of the Historic Royal palaces of the United Kingdom.

But this is just one of many events scheduled for this Wednesday. The main thing is the monarch's speech scheduled at 4:30 pm, hour from Lisbon, the moment that surpasses the record of his great-great-grandmother.
