Tanzania's new President; opposition demands recount

According to the Electoral Commission, Magufuli would have obtained 58% of the vote against 40 percent for the opposition candidate, Edward Lowassa.

The announcement took place after the national elections Commission has rejected complaints by the opposition demanding a recount, allegedly due to irregularities.

The former Prime Minister and one by the opposition candidate, Edward Lowassa, denounced the results requiring to be named President.

Last Sunday's elections were the most disputed in the country in more than half a century of independence.
