Greece: 30 refugees have been detained during police operation

Hundreds of refugees were forced to leave the makeshift camp in Greece near the border with Macedonia where they met about three weeks ago.

The operation to unblock the railway lines that connect the two countries began at dawn. Reporters and photographers were kept three kilometers away.

The approximately 1200 refugees, most from countries such as Pakistan, Morocco and Iran were referred to buses bound for Athens. The authorities ensure that the operation ran smoothly, but there are reports that at least 30 people refused to leave the premises and were eventually arrested.

The Greece continues to be the main gateway in Europe and the wrecks are practically daily. This Wednesday, at least 11 people died while trying to reach the Greek island of Farmakonisi after the vessel where followed to have sunk.
