Iraq: Army hopes to regain control of Ramadi in the next few days

The Iraqi army recovered part of the control of the city of Ramadi, the capital of the Western Province of Anbar.

The city is under the domain of the Group Islamic State since May.

According to the authorities, the army has been removing the explosives left by the jihadists and believe that the resumption of full control of the city will take place in the coming days.

"In a few days we will release the entire city of Ramadi. We're watching the militants of HEY, coming out. We got them down. Our snipers have already taken up positions on the roofs of houses of Ramadi. If God wants, we're releasing Ramadi soon, "says a member of the Counterterrorism Unit

After retaken control, Ramadi will be the second large city after Tikrit, to be recovered from the hands to the self-proclaimed Islamic State.
