North Korea condemns Canadian religious leader to life imprisonment

The ruling, issued Wednesday by the highest legal instance in the country, is based on a charge of crimes against the State, including subversion.

In July, the pastor attended a press conference in which he admitted to having colluded in order to overthrow the Government.

Other foreigners previously held in the country claim they were subjected to coercion and forced to admit guilt during the period of detention.
