Serbia: Prime Minister wants early elections on behalf of the European Union
Vucic, whose Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) has a comfortable majority in Parliament with 158 of the 250 deputies, suggested in the spring elections, two years ahead of schedule. "My decision is that we will have elections (...) Serbia needs 4 more years of stability to be ready to join the European Union (EU), "said Vucic.The Prime Minister explained that Serbia must "until 2020, complete the process of reforms and stand at the gates" of EU membership. In late December, Serbia opened the first two chapters of the accession negotiations to the European bloc, after the normalization of its relations with Kosovo.
