Delivery of the Oscars overshadowed by the discrimination on

They're not just African Americans. Women and the LGBT community (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transvestites) have little weight in the current American entertainment industry. This is the conclusion of the alleged first study conducted on this controversial topic, flamed after protests by the absence of African-American named among the nominees for the Oscars this year and this when there would be movies and performances to deserve at least appear on the list of finalists.

Movies like "the courage of a champion", with Will Smith, "Chi-Raq", Spike Lee, or, especially, "Beasts of No Nation", with Idris Elba, and "Straight Outta Compton", which depicts the history of RAP group Niggaz Wit Attitudes (NWA), were virtually ignored by the members of the Academy. Only the latter got a nomination for best original screenplay.

Will Smith's wife, Jada Smith, was the first to assume the boycott the ceremony of delivery of the Oscars â€" the husband said it would be ridiculous for him to go. Also the Director Spike Lee announced the boycott the ceremony.

In the category of best documentary, one of the named, curiously, portrays the life of Nina Simone, black that gave the world in the 50 1 of the best voices ever on the Blues and Soul and became one of the biggest advocates of equal civil rights in the United States. The ceremony on Sunday (February 28), where Nina Simone can shine despite strong competition, among others, Amy Winehouse, will host, interestingly, a black: comedian Chris Rock.

A poll from Reu ters/LSPSOS questioned cidadõs Americans about a campaign to boycott the presentation of the Oscars due to a lack of afro-americabnos named for the second consecutive year. The results dictated that 43.9 per 100 of respondents did not agree with the boycott and 23.4 per 100 conrodavam. Almost 23% you chose not to take a position on the subject and 9.9 per 100 did not know answer.

Among white respondents, 51.4 per 100 were against the boycott and 50% of those surveyed were in favour blacks.

In an interview with the Associated Press (video below), the teacher referred to the "hashtag" (a term which creates a specific social networks Division) #OscarsSoWhite (Oscars as white), suggesting, in cinematic language, "the prequel" of this term should be the "hashtag" #HollywoodSoWhite (Hollywood so white). At the end of January, with a unanimous vote, the Board of Governors of the Academy of motion picture arts and Sciences in Hollywood approved a series of measures to make the body mor e diverse composition, pledging to double the number of women and minority representatives until 2020.

The measures come into force later this year. The new members will be able to vote for 10 years and will be renewed if Association remain working in the sector during the Decade in question. The members shall have the right to vote for life after 30 years as members of the Academy or if they are nominated for an Oscar.
