Go world champion defeated by artificial intelligence

With this victory, the software created by the company of artificial intelligence DeepMind, acquired by Google, won the Championship.

This is a significant moment in the history of artificial intelligence, as this Board Eastern game was considered one of the greatest challenges for the computers by allowing a motion setting far superior to that of chess.

The AlphaGo had already defeated in last year's European champion, the French of Chinese origin Fan Hui.

The program uses the method of "deep learning" (Deep learning), designed on the basis of artificial neurons layers that mimic the human brain.

In 1997, the Deep Blue IBM computer defeated World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov.

The abrupt progress of artificial intelligence has raised fears of experts around the world about the possible negative consequences. In January 2015, Stephen Hawking, Elon Musk and a wide range of other experts in WOULD have signed a open letter that warned to the urgent need for research on the social implications of this progress.

Information technology specialists of the Institute for ethics and new technologies recently launched a petition that demands total transparency in the development of artificial intelligence programs.
