Health: number of adults with diabetes has quadrupled since 1980

In Portugal, almost a million with more than 30 years suffers from diabetes, a disease that kills more than 12 people a day in the country. But according to data from the National Observatory of Diabetes numbers are more serious: in 2014, more than 13% of the inside of the Portuguese population aged between 20 and 79 years, suffered from diabetes, which add up to more than 2 million people with pre-diabetes.

Etienne Krug, who explains that "people with diabetes are more likely to suffer more complications: heart disease, stroke, eye disease, amputations and early death. This isn't supposed to happen. Eat better more physical activity ... There needs to be more prevention ".

Who still remembers that there are several risk factors for diabetes, pointing as more relevant excess weight, followed by the physical inactivity and obesity finally.

In the least developed countries or the developing situation has been getting worse. In the case of India, the main problem of people suffering from diabetes is access to insulin, medicines crucial for the control of diabetes.
