President of France starts four-day visit to the Middle East

François Hollande arrived this Saturday at Lebanon, being the first step of a four-day visit to the Middle East.

A journey that also includes passage through Egypt and by Jordan.

The French Head of State was received at the Beirut International Airport by Vice-President of the Lebanese Government and Defense Minister Samir Mokbel.

This first step will be for 48 hours and should be especially dedicated to refugee crisis resulting from the war in Syria, a conflict that has killed more than 270,000 people from 2011, and that has resulted in millions of refugees.

While Syria, Lebanon's neighbor hosts 1.1 million Syrians, which is equivalent to about a quarter of its population.

Hollande will visit after a host of refugee camp, where he will meet with Syrian families who have hope of obtaining asylum in France.
