Dominican Republic: Danilo Medina re-elected

Supporters of the President dancing the merengue to celebrate, even if there is still no final results and opponents haven't conceded defeat: "my commitment is to put all my energies to deepen over the next four years, the changes that the Dominican Republic is living," said Medina.

With about 70% of the votes counted, Medina has almost twice the percentage of the second most voted candidate, Luis Abinader, indicating an election to the first round.

Delays in counting of votes have provoked clashes in various parts of the country, which have made six deaths.
