Japan: G7 Summit dominated by economy and external security

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, hosts G7 leaders gathered on Thursday for the first day of the Summit of Ise-Shima, central Japan, a meeting dedicated to economic issues and foreign security policy, after a welcome ceremony in the symbolic Shinto shrine of Ise.

The leaders of Germany, Canada, United States, France, Italy, Japan and United Kingdom chegararam the day before for bilateral meetings in the middle of a large security apparatus.

The Summit aims to adopt a declaration that will highlight the importance of fiscal, monetary and structural measures to revive the global economy.

This approach would combine the positions of the United States, Japan an d Canada, defending common policies of fiscal stimulus and public investment to promote consumption.
