Ukraine wins the Eurovision Song Contest

Ukraine is the country 61° Festival winner of Eurovision. The second Ukrainian victory at the Festival had the lead singer Jamala, that Saturday, in Sweden, introduced "1944". A theme about the deportation of the Crimean Tatars ordered by Stalin.

The Ukraine won with 534 points.

Russia and Australia, who were among the Favorites, were respectively in third and fourth place.

With Dami Im playing "Sound Of Silence", Australia (winner of the vote of the jury) managed to 511 points.

Sergey Lazarev submitted You Are The Only One (winner of the televoting) and won 491 points for R ussia.

Sergey Lazarev is a Russian pop star who has often criticized the homophobic climate in Russia, defending gay rights, and he opposed the annexation of Crimea by Moscow.

The end result was decided by the Division into equal parts (50:50) between professional juries and televoting of the 42 participating countries. The 26 finalists were composed of 20 qualified in first and second semi-final, held on 10 and 12 may, and six countries established automatically: The "big 5" (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and United Kingdom) and the host country, Sweden.

The issue of Saturday night was seen by 200 million telespetadores. This year the contest was held in Stockholm at Ericsson Globe, and featured for the first time, with the performance of an international star: Justin Timberlake.
