Damascus welcomes agreement between the u.s. and Russia on the Elimination of chemical weapons in Syria

In Syria, the Minister of reconciliation, Ali Haïdar, saluted the agreement reached Saturday in Geneva between the United States and Russia on the Elimination of chemical weapons in the country, whereas allowed "to prevent war."

However it was announced that François Hollande will get around this Monday with the heads of the American, British and French diplomats to discuss the crisis in Syria.

The French President considered that the agreement is "an important step", but, by itself, does not put end to the conflict.

"We are at a stage that allows us to think seriously on a political and diplomatic solution, but I stress that the military option should continue, or else there will be no pressure. I hope this is exercised by the United Nations Security Council, "said François Hollande during a televised interview.

After a meeting in Jerusalem with Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, US Secretary of State John Kerry warned that the United States not eliminated any options.

"In the management of international affairs cannot be empty words, because that will affect all other matters, whether they are about Iran, North Korea or any other," said Kerry.

For its part, the opposition demanded that Syria, in addition to controlling the chemical weapons, the international community against the Damascus regime to use ballistic missiles and aircraft against civilians, and called for a plan to fend off the heavy weaponry of the inhabited areas and prohibit its use against cities, towns and villages.
