Paris, Washington and London warn Assad for consequences of failure to agree on disarmament

United Kingdom, France and United States calling for a tough resolution at the UN that provides for sanctions against Assad, the Syrian leader case does not comply with the disarmament accord sealed on Saturday.

At a press conference in Paris, diplomatic officials of the three countries members of the Security Council stressed that the possibility of a military intervention is still on the table.

"What is important at the moment is that this agreement be put in place to eliminate once and for all the chemical threat that the Syrian regime is hovering over their population and neighbouring countries," said the French Foreign Minister, Laurent Fabius.

"We will not tolerate any violation and we want the Assad regime respects on completeness all principles of the disarmament agreement. No one has doubts, and even the Russians agree, that there will be serious consequences if Assad does not comply with the terms of this agreement ".

The three diplomatic officials stressed the importance of a political solution to the conflict, despite the military threat, having proposed a meeting with the moderate opposition, to restart the debate, during the UN General Assembly in New York.
