South Africa: gold mines paralyzed

In the gold mines of South Africa, eighty thousand miners enter in strike to claim wage increases.The traballhadores called the protest with the support of the National Union of Miners and require up to 60% increases. Earlier this week rejected an offer of an increase of 6%, the same rate of current inflation.The Government has urged workers to ensure that the strikes are peaceful. President Jacob Zuma has called the end of protest and recalled that are harming the industry and the country's economy.In similar demonstrations last year, 34 workers were shot to death by police.The South Africa is one of the largest traders of gold in the world, but the extraction suffered a reduction of investment and is shaken by labour relations strained.
