London and Tehran rehearse diplomatic reconciliation

The United Kingdom and Iran agree to gradually restore diplomatic relations, broken off since 2011. The British Foreign Secretary, announced Tuesday in Parliament that the two countries will appoint diplomatic officials with a view to the longer term reopening of respective embassies. William Hague acknowledged that the election of a new President Rohani in June contributed to the improvement of bilateral relations, but he left a warning:"We are willing to maintain the current sanctions if Tehran does not change its policy. A substantial change in British or Western position will only be possible if Tehran to modify its nuclear program. However, we must test the sincerity of the Iranian Government and maintain our channels of communication open. "The British Government had closed the Iranian Embassy in London, in November 2011, days after the United Kingdom's diplomatic representation in Tehran have been robbed and plundered, during a protest against international sanctions. The change in the Iranian Presidency and the resumption of negotiations on the nuclear program had already taken to France and, to some extent, the United States, to rehearse a rapprochement to Tehran.
