Tehran wants to be entitled to enriquecimeno of uranium

The Iranian Foreign Minister has outlined a proposal to restrict his country's nuclear program in Exchange for the right to enrich uranium and an easing of sanctions which weigh on the economy.

Abbas Araghchi stated that "the negotiations are going well, but it's still too early to judge whether it will be possible to reach a conclusion".

Michael Mann, spokesman for Catherine Ashton, leading authority European Union foreign policy negotiator in this meeting said that the Iranian proposal had been "very useful".

"We heard from the Iranians to be more transparent, more open to discuss, but obviously we have to continue discussions to see what they want exactly. Because at the moment there are many missing details ".

These are the first formal negotiations between the five plus one group and Iran since the election of President Hassan Rouhani who took office in August.

The Euronews correspondent comments:

"The first day of the negotiations could have ended as the five previous meetings unnecessarily, but both sides have spoken of a very positive atmosphere during the negotiations and the West has stressed that entered now in detailed technical discussions".
