Typhoon in the Philippines makes 1200 dead

The teams of the Organization say, only in the Taclobán area, were seen over a thousand bodies floating.

The Typhoon is now moving away from the Philippines, after leaving a trail of destruction across the archipelago. Caused at least a million displaced.

The greatest damage occurred in the city of Taclobán, on the island of Leyte. Virtually all houses were destroyed.

In addition to the winds, which reached to 210 kilometres per hour, the typhoon caused landslides and flooding in much of the country.

Also the province of Cebu, in the North of the country, was heavily hit by the typhoon, with several towns, especially in coastal areas, devastated by the winds and floods.

About one million people in the stricken areas, sought refuge in 37 other provinces, following the Government's orders to evacuate risk zones.

The Typhoon has decreased in intensity but according to meteorologists, can gain traction. The winds are heading now for Vietnam.
