Bosnians reminiscent of destruction of historical monument

The destruction took place in 1993 during the conflict which continued until 1995. After several days of fighting Croat forces from Bosnia would eventually destroy this historical symbol.

The bridge was originally built by the Ottoman Emperor Suleyman the magnificent, having survived more than 500 years.

Today the bridge is part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
