Syrian Government kills in Aleppo while President writes to Pope

Barrels full of explosives were launched from helicopters reportedly affects the Government of Damascus against a market, causing damage and victims indiscriminately throughout the surrounding area.

According to the Syrian Observatory for human rights, at least 25 people have died as a result of this attack, among them four children, a teenager and a woman.

The attack happened, oddly enough, on the day the Vatican announced receiving of the Syrian President a private letter to the Pope. The message submitted by Bashar al Assad arrived at the Vatican by a delegation of the Government in Damascus that was received by Pietro Parolin, the Under-Secretary of State of the Holy See.

A few days ago, in the traditional Christmas speech, the Pope had made a prayer for an end to the suffering of the Syrian people and launched an appeal to the parties involved by the end of the conflict in that country. In the same message, the Pope urged to guarantee access of humanitarian aid to victims of the conflict. Now await further clarification about the letter addressed to the leader of the Catholic Church by President Bashar al Assad.
