USA: Pall advances South

In the United States, the Centre, North and East of the country are being hit by a polar vortex that did download temperatures to unprecedented levels for more than twenty years.

The wave of cold coming from the North Pole, has caused about a dozen deaths in less than a week.

Combined with strong winds, temperatures will fall to potentially deadly levels that cause serious injury on the skin after a few minutes of exposure.

"It's cold burns. We are concerned with the skin: fingers and toes, ears, nose, etc. Exposure to extreme cold, causes the lowering of body temperature and puts his life in danger. Can stop the heart, can stop breathing and lead to death, "said Dr. Ryan Fey, the burn unit at Hennepin County Medical Center.

In Chicago, reception centres were installed in which all people can warm up.

But, according to various sources, the worst is yet to come.

More cold is expected in Atlanta, in the State of Georgia, the great city, 1,200 kilometers south of Chicago, than in the largest city in the State of Alaska, Anchorage.
