Switzerland: referendum on new rules for immigration

The referendums are part of political tradition Switzerland, a country that values the direct democracy. All initiatives taken the referendum result from petitions.

"We voted against the initiative because Switzerland benefits from the arrival of foreign workers. There's not enough Swiss workers, "said a citizen.

"I support because I think we need to start tracking the arrival of foreigners. Other countries such as the United States and Australia, do not get a work permit anyway. I think we should do the same thing. We can't have a population to grow 80 000 inhabitants per year, "said another.

In the referendum, in addition to the new package with measures to limit immigration, the Swiss will decide on the financing model of the railway system and the end of the coverage of abortions by health insurance.
