Venezuela prepares for another day of demonstrations

The population complains of crime, inflation, the queues to buy well essential, increasingly scarce, and the alleged repression of opponents of the regime of Nicolás Maduro, for 10 months in power.

Currently in prison, Leopoldo Lopez, the opposition leader, wrote a letter in which calls for peaceful challenge to the regime.

The protests against the President began in early February, on the part of students and extended to the general public.

Infiltrated by unidentified armed groups, the demonstrations degenerated into violent clashes with the police.

All told, officially, eight people lost their lives and there are also dozens of wounded and detained.

In San Cristobal, epicenter of protests, the army and the National Guard patrolling a city turned into a war zone where most of the shops are closed.
