John Kerry discusses situation of Ukraine in Kiev

John Kerry met Tuesday in Kiev, with the new President and the Ukrainian Prime Minister. After discussing the situation in the country and ways to solve the most pressing issues, the US Secretary of State gave a press conference at the Embassy of the United States, where harsh accusations launched to Russia:

"It is through diplomacy and respect for sovereignty, not by unilateral force, which can resolve situations like this, in the 21st century. President Obama and I want to make it clear to Russia and to the whole world that we are not looking for a confrontation. There's a better way of Russia asserting their legitimate interests in Ukraine ".

Kerry's visit comes on the day the United States announced an aid package to the country, expert help and financial support, within the framework of an international loan:

"I am pleased to say that this package includes an immediate loan of one billion dollars, to support the recovery of Ukraine and we are working with the Treasury of the United States and with other partners to create a more comprehensive plan," said Kerry.

During the day, Kerry visited the sites in the capital, which marked the revolution which led to the dismissal of Ianukovick. During the Press Conference asked Putin to withdraw immediately its Crimean and effective follow the path of dialogue and diplomacy.
